Summary

This Toolbox App calculates the wave drag coefficient of wings at zero lift in inviscid airflow.

The program follows the method of ESDU 75004, which gives curves calculated from linearised theory for the wave drag of wings with straight leading- and trailing-edges, streamwise tips, and constant thickness/chord ratio across the span. The graphical data presented in the Data Item are held in digital form within the program code.

The Data Item method is applicable to wings with either double-wedge sectional geometry or parabolic-arc sectional geometry, see the sketches. For detailed values and specific applicability, refer to Table 5.1 in ESDU 75004.
