This app provides the increment in wing profile drag coefficient due to the deployment of a single-slotted flap.
The increment, which includes a lift-dependent component, is intended for use within the estimate of the low-speed drag polar of a wing with deflected flap. The method applies to wings of moderate to high aspect ratio and modest sweep.
The sketches below illustrate the typical geometry of wing/single-slotted flap configuration considered in the Data Item.
Wing-fuselage configurations are also addressed by the Data Item.
Note: The user should consult ESDU 08013 for full specification and discussion of the wing-fuselage-flap systems and flow conditions covered by the data used in the derivation of the method, and additional advice on the applicability.
