Construction of inelastic stress-strain curves from minimal materials data (computer program).
Abstract:
ESDU 89052 introduces a computer program, ESDUpac A8952, for computing the inelastic stress-strain curve, tangent and secant moduli, and the inelastic Poisson's ratio of a metallic material from limited commonly available materials properties. It requires values of the elastic modulus and two points in the inelastic region of the curve, and assumes that the curve can be represented by an equation containing the modulus of elasticity and two unknowns, a reference stress and a material characteristic. The method is valid for both tension and compression cases. The program input is explained, warnings provided when the program limitations are infringed are set out and, through two worked examples, the output is illustrated.Indexed under:
