Stress concentration factors. Axially loaded lugs with clearance-fit pins.
Abstract:ESDU 81006 provides the maximum elastic stress concentration factor acting at the perimeter of the hole in lugs loaded axially by a single central clearance-fit pin. The effect of pin bending as a function of lug thickness and ratio of lug-to-pin moduli of elasticity is introduced as a correction factor to the stress concentration factor for thin lugs. The effect of waisting the lug (behind the pin) is also included. Several forms of waisting are possible and three common forms of waisting are dealt with in detail.
