ESDU 72019
Buckling of flat isotropic plates under uniaxial and biaxial loading.
Abstract:
ESDU 72019 gives the elastic buckling stress under longitudinal compression of a plate with edge conditions: (1) short sides simply-supported and long sides simply-supported, clamped or elastically restrained laterally and/or in rotation, (2) short sides simply-supported and one long side free while the other is either clamped or simply-supported, (3) short sides clamped and long sides either clamped or simply-supported. The elastic buckling stress is also given under biaxial compression with edge conditions: (1) short sides simply-supported and long sides either clamped or simply-supported, (2) short sides clamped and long sides either clamped or simply-supported. Data are given to correct the buckling stress for the effects of plasticity.
See ESDU 81047 and ESDUpac A8147 for a computer program that treats buckling of rectangular plates.
