Derivations applicable to ESDU 20007 on the GPS methods for determining true airspeed and wind speeds.
This Technical Memorandum provides background information for ESDU 20007, entitled 'Aircraft Performance from Flight Test. Part 4: calibration of pressure air data systems. Sub-part II: GPS methods for determining true airspeed and wind speeds'.
An alternative procedure for determining wind speed when using Method 2 of ESDU 20007 is outlined.
The concept of indicated true airspeed, which is used in Method 4 of ESDU 20007, is also defined. Additionally, the differences between this term and both true airspeed and indicated airspeed are described.
