Calculation of ground performance in take-off and landing.
Abstract:ESDU 85029 presents aircraft ground performance as a subject in its own right and gives a guide to topics which are common to take-off, accelerate-stop and landing. No particular emphasis is given to the class of aircraft, powerplant, surface, or type of operation. A very wide range of technical and operational aspects of aircraft performance is considered while the implications of the various airworthiness and operating requirements are included, wherever relevant. The Item also has the following detailed objectives: To give guidance regarding the forces and moments to be considered for the widest possible range of ground performance calculations; To provide a common background to the ground-performance aspects of a sequence of Data Items giving examples of field-performance calculation methods; To provide numerical information for topics not considered elsewhere in the Performance Series; To direct the user to sources of detailed information relevant to ground performance in the Performance and Aerodynamics Data Item and elsewhere.
