ESDU AERO S.00.03.07
One-dimensional isentropic gas flow.
Abstract:ESDU Aero S.00.03.07 gives curves for the ratios of static pressure/stagnation pressure, static temperature/stagnation temperature, local velocity/speed of sound for stagnation conditions and local kinetic pressure/stagnation pressure. The curves are plotted against Mach number from zero to four for a range of values of the ratio of the specific heat capacity at constant pressure to that at constant volume. The isentropic relations from which the curves are derived are also given together with the relations for the ratios of local density/stagnation density and local flow area/flow area at a Mach number of unity. It is suggested that that last ratio may be obtained from the curves of ESDU 81004 if that is preferred to calculating it from the equation. Worked examples illustrate the use of the data.
