Introductory sheet on subcritical lift-dependent drag of wings.
Abstract:ESDU 66031 discusses the various contributions to the drag of a lifting wing of moderate to high aspect ratio in subcritical viscous flow, considering both a cambered and twisted wing and a plane symmetrical section wing. A method of analysis is discussed for the case of plane symmetrical section wings; it uses ESDU 74035 to determine the drag due to trailing vortices and applies a correction for lift dependent drag due to boundary layer developed in ESDU 66032.
