Increment in wing profile drag coefficient due to the deployment of a single-slotted flap.
Abstract:ESDU 08013 provides an empirical method for predicting the wing profile drag coefficient increment due to the deployment of a single slotted flap. The estimate is intended for use within the estimate of the low-speed drag polar of a wing with deflected flap. The estimate includes a lift-dependent component. Comparisons with experimental data demonstrate the accuracy of the method. The method applies to wings of moderate to high aspect ratio and modest sweep. Worked examples illustrate the use of the method.
