Elastic direct stresses and deflections for flat rectangular plates under uniformly distributed normal pressure.
Abstract:
Curves are given which enable the elastic stresses (at the centre, on the edges and on the diagonals) and maximum deflections to be determined for initially flat rectangular plates of uniform thickness under uniformly distributed normal pressure. The curves are based on thin plate theory and apply for plate width/thickness ratios greater than or equal to 20. The data are given for plates with length/width ratios between 1 and infinity and the edge restraints may be any combination of fixed or free in translation or rotation. The data can also be obtained using ESDUpac A9311, see ESDU 93011, or ESDUpac A9433, see ESDU 94033.Indexed under:
