ESDU was the lead in the ASTEROID research project. The objectives of ASTEROID were to investigate the aerodynamic effects of small local changes in external shape (excrescences and flow leakage); to develop enhanced methods for the modelling of these effects; and to produce software to facilitate the design, manufacture and maintenance of aeroplanes for minimum fuel burn. ASTEROID was part-funded by Innovate UK.

You can find the completed ASTEROID program here.
