Pressure losses in three-leg pipe junctions: combining flows.
Abstract:ESDU 73023 gives graphical data, derived by correlating results from a wide range of experimental sources, for the pressure loss through three-leg planar junctions with an symmetrical Y-form or with one pipe joining a straight pipe at a angle. The pipes may be of different sizes and of circular cross section or of rectangular cross section with length/width ratios between 1/2 and 2. The data apply to the single- phase flow of liquids, or of gases at low speeds. The accuracy of the prediction is assessed.
