Introduction to estimation of range and endurance.
Abstract:ESDU 73018 discusses the factors to be taken into account in estimating range and develops equations for specific air range, range and endurance. Solutions of the equations are given in ESDU 73019. A graph is given that enables account to be taken of the variation of local gravity with latitude and aircraft track, speed and height. The effect of wind is also discussed, and formulae and a graph enable the effect of the wind on the airspeed for maximum range and on the best glide angle to be obtained.
