Buckling of struts. Lipped and unlipped Z sections.
Abstract:ESDU 77030 gives curves relating the compressive stress at buckling to the associated half-wavelength for struts of isotropic material and uniform thickness. The effects of translation, rotation, and distortion of the cross-section are included and a practical range of section geometries and buckle wavelengths is covered. Factors to allow for the effect of plasticity are included. Guidance is given on the selection of buckle wavelength depending on end restraints.
