Flexible circular frames supported by a shell. Moments, forces and displacements due to concentrated loads and couples.
Abstract:ESDU 83043 gives equations for the bending moment, radial shear force, circumferential direct force, shear flow, and the radial, tangential and angular displacements at any cross-section of the flexible frame. The frame may be loaded by any system of concentrated loads and couples at a point and, by superposition of the results, combined loading on the frame can be treated and distributed loading can be simulated. The results are provided at 5 degree angles around the frame in tables, each table applying to one value of the ratio of frame to shell stiffness. An example shows how the tables are used to find the forces and deflections in a practical case. ESDU 83043 complements the graphical data given in ESDU Struct 03.06.00 to ESDU Struct 03.06.17.
