Thermal conductivity of liquids: Mixtures.
Abstract:ESDU 88004 gives an equation for the calculation of the thermal conductivity of multi-component liquid mixtures from the values for the pure components. The equation is shown to be more accurate than simply adding pure component contributions according to weight fraction; the equation introduces a correction factor to the simple addition rule that takes values generally different from unity when they are derived from data extracted from the literature for 164 different binary mixtures. From those results, a generalised guide is given for the selection of the best value of correction factor for binary mixtures of a number of different classes of organic compounds. In addition, tables of data for a range of temperature and of weight fraction of solute are given for aqueous solutions of methanol, ethanol, propan-1-ol, propan-2-ol and acetone.
