Geometric stress concentrations. Two equal unreinforced circular holes in infinite flat plates.
Abstract:
Graphically presented data are provided on the maximum direct stresses around each hole of a biaxially loaded plate. Stresses may be determined for various hole pitch/diameter ratios and principal stress ratio for holes orientated at various angles to the principal stress axes. The curves apply provided no plate boundary is closer than three times the hole radius from the edge of a hole. A worked example illustrates the use of the data.Indexed under:
