ESDU 78014
Fatigue of wrought titanium alloys Ti-6Al-6V-2Sn and Ti-4Al-4Mo-2Sn-0.5Si.
Abstract:
ESDU 78014 gives results of constant amplitude fatigue tests taken from literature. For Ti-6Al-6V-2Sn the data are plotted as the maximum stress in the cycle, non-dimensionalised by the material tensile strength, against endurance for annealed rolled or extruded bar or plate and for solution treated and aged forged bar and plate all under axial loading. The effect of mean stress is shown by superimposing curves of constant stress ratio on the data. For Ti-4Al-4Mo-2Sn-0.5Si the data are plotted as a non-dimensional alternating stress parameter (involving the stress concentration factor and material tensile strength) against endurance for solution treated and aged bar in bending only with zero mean stress. Both alloys were in the (alpha + beta) phase. Details of the specimens tested and the tensile strength and 0.2 per cent proof stresses of the materials are tabulated.Indexed under:
