Local buckling of compression panels with unflanged integral stiffeners.
Abstract:ESDU 70003 provides data on the local buckling of compression panels for a wide variety of skin and stiffener geometries. A graphical presentation of the evaluation of earliest buckling stress is provided for both purely elastic and partly plastic deformation. The data are applicable to panels where both skin and stiffener thickness/width ratios are greater than 5 and for materials having a Poisson's ratio of 0.3; the data may, however, be modified by a multiplication factor for other Poisson's ratios in the range 0.25 to 0.35. A worked example illustrates the use of the data.
