Computer program for the calculation of normal force and pitching moment of forebody-cylinder combinations at angles of attack up to 90 degrees and Mach numbers up to 5, including the effects of conical boat-tailing.
Abstract:Item No. 90034 provides details of a computer program for the calculation of normal force and pitching moment of axisymmetric bodies, both with and without conical boat-tailing, for angles of attack up to 90 degrees and Mach numbers up to 5. The program itself is available as ESDUpac A9034. The methods employed in the program are those given in Item No. 89008 for normal-force-curve and pitching-moment-curve slopes at zero angle of attack, Item No. 89014 for normal force and pitching moment at angle of attack, Item No. 87033 for the effects of conical boat-tailing and Item No. 77028 for the calculation of geometric parameters. A summary of the program is given, as is a description of the required input and output data. Four examples are also presented to illustrate typical program input and output.
