Abstract:

The vortex theory, and some aspects of velocity potential were discussed. Oblique and axial translations of a lifting airscrew in an ideal fluid are considered first, within the limits of linear and nonlinear theories. Then, viscosity and compressibility effects are introduced. Exposition of some aspects of propeller operation in a compressible medium concludes this presentation.
